El Regato is an establishing community in an old abandoned spanish smuggler's village, close to the river "Rio Severe".
It is located on the Spanish side of the border close to Portugal, 7 km from Valencia de Alcântara and 10 km from Marvão, with access from both sides.
El Regato was founded right at the rocky and rainy borders of northern Portugal and Spain at the small river Severe and the cosy stream of Regato, october 2015.
Members as well as co-workers made here a hell of a job come true, in friendly co-operation with each other en with the universe (to give this "a name") - to realise a nine days course on permaculture with teacher Josh Gomez (from Engl., Cornwall, actually living with family in his own permacultural farm, in the north of Portugalas well).
We were lovely hosted by Sergio (co-owner of El Regato and regional open air market seller) - who made this all possible for this remarkable group with his overwhelming bulks of passion and phantasy during the technical construction and coursing days, there in that rough spot.
And we marked this location as a "nice part of Portugal" - while staying formally 50 meters in Spain. (We couldn't find a portugese flag in the souvenir shops!)
This group aims to keep in touch with each other, to share knowledge and own experiences. To keep on working and dreaming and loving.
